Easy to grip with a wrench or pliers, so they are used primarily where holding and tightening with a tool is required. Common uses include:

• Mounting D-type electronic connectors to a computer panel
Round
General-use threaded spacers are excellent for applications requiring close control of dimensions.
Common uses include:
• Attaching and spacing printed circuit boards and subassemblies
• Preventing crushing of lightweight structural materials at fastening points
