Spacers are cylindrical, unthreaded devices used to mount and connect parts or to hold two components at a given distance from each other.
Note: Do not use as precision bearings or shafts, or as high-precision jacking or adjusting devices.

SPACER TYPES
Hex
Easy to grip with a wrench or pliers, so they are used primarily where holding and tightening with a tool is required.
• Use to locate, hinge, and guide parts in electrical
and mechanical assemblies
• Use in computers to provide mechanical
support and isolate/insulate the board, chassis,
components, and other devices from each other

Retaining
Designed to secure a screw in place and remain
tight: most retaining spacers are self-aligning.
• Popular in a wide variety of products, including
computers, telecommunications, appliances,
electronics, security systems, office equipment, and vending machines

Round
The most common spacer shape, used primarily:
• In minimum-clearance space applications
• To prevent crushing in stacked assemblies
