All drench showers, combination drench showers, and eyewashes meet ANSI Z358.1-2004 standard
Emergency drench showers and eyewash stations are ideal for hazardous areas where plumbed water supply is available. Drench showers rinse hazardous materials off entire body while eye and eye/face wash provide gentle rinse.
Federal regulations by OSHA require emergency eyewash and shower equipment be available for immediate use where hazards exist that may cause injury to the eyes and body. OSHA refers to the ANSI Z358.1-2004 standard for Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment. The core requirements specified by ANSI:
• Safety equipment shall be unobstructed within 10 seconds of hazard
• Shower shall provide 20 GPM of flushing fluid for a minimum of 15 minutes
• of flushing fluid for a minimum of 15 minutes
• Delivered water shall be tepid
• Stay-open valve must activate in 1 second or less
• Highly visible identification sign must be present
• Equipment shall be tested weekly for proper operation.
